Sports Physiotherapy Harrogate

Injury Rehabilitation - An injury obtained whilst playing sport or after surgery. We get you back competing effectively and safely, in the shortest amount of time possible.

Biomechanics – If an injury exists in the tissue like a muscle tear, tendonitis or ligament strain, the body can over compensate for these elsewhere in the body. This can lead to muscle imbalance and/or dysfunctional joints. Anatomical irregularities like a leg length discrepancy or a pelvic rotation
can also make you more susceptible to injury.

At myPhysio Harrogate we can analyse your movements to identify not only existing problems but also
potential problems that could arise in the future. The problem may be apparent in the form of
an injury or may be a condition which affects your performance.
e.g. tight pectorals affecting your back swing in golf or a flat- foot limiting the balance of your
standing foot when shooting in football.

Gait analysis – In playing most sports there is a requirement to run. The forces
transmitted through the tissue in the body whilst running can be immense. The
body is highly adapted to these forces but if there is a problem with your
biomechanics large forces can be transmitted to tissue not strong enough to
withstand such pressure resulting in injury.
Gait analysis is a tool by which the physiotherapist will examine your walking
and running gait to identify potential problems that can usually be easily rectified.
